Why We Procrastinate
In truth, many of us procrastinate because we are overwhelmed with deadlines and decisions to make in all areas of our life and distractions have become omnipresent on our phones and computers — a problem no one had only twenty-five years ago.
If you don’t procrastinate in all areas of your life, then you are avoiding doing something that you are probably overthinking. In fact, you write tasks on your To-Do list with the firm intention of doing them all, but then one or more task(s) get put off and the stories come in.
You might recognize some of them:
- Tomorrow will be a better day to do this.
- I am not ready yet.
- I don’t know enough yet.
- I’ve got more important things to do first.
- I haven’t got enough time. I am too busy.
- I just don’t have the energy for this right now.
- I’m not in the mood.
