Why You Need a Big Why to Achieve Your Goals
Do you ever get frustrated at your lack of motivation or productivity? You write down your goal(s), your action plan, your Most Important Tasks list or to-do list, and then you fail to achieve them. You might get started and get a few things done but at some point, you lose momentum and it all goes to the wayside. You get side-tracked by mundane tasks, everyday life and now it’s ‘game over’.
This failure to achieve is not due to your lack of clarity on your goal or what you need to do. You got that. The reason for it is your lack of motivation.
Motivation feels like a mountain to climb. It’s up there with self-discipline. Just hearing those two words makes you cringe and feel exhausted before you’ve even started!
When you write your goals or your MITs, you also need to write the WHY behind them. Let me say this out loud: YOU NEED TO WRITE DOWN YOUR WHY BEHIND THEM!
Start with your big goal. Why do you want this? How will you, your kids or your business benefit from it? WRITE IT DOWN! Be specific with the outcome. i.e. This will get me closer to buying my house. This will contribute to my children ‘s well-being. This will contribute to being healthy and fit. This will improve my relationship with my partner. This will generate the money I need to pay my bills.
