Today Is a Good Day to… Check In With Yourself Before You Write Your To-Do List

What if you started your day checking in with yourself before writing your To-Do list? How are you feeling physically? What is your mood? What is the weather like? What are the commitments you have and how will they impact what you need to/can do?

Too often our To-Do list is oblivious to current matters and biorhythms and is overly ambitious. One of the best things I have done in the last few months has been to check in with myself and adapt my To-Do list to the different factors that might or will affect it.

Your ‘Today is a good day to’ To-Do list becomes a precious tool that marries productivity and self-care and takes into account the realities of your life.

Maybe today is a good day to sit outside to eat your lunch. Maybe your mind is cluttered and it is a good day to weed the garden or de-clutter a drawer/shelf/closet.

It might be a good idea to also write a ‘Today is a good day to’ To-Do list at work before you start your day. Of course, there are items that absolutely need to happen and that’s fine, they will make their way onto your list. However, there might be things that can be swapped around. You will be more efficient if you do tasks in optimum conditions. Your productivity increases as you get back in touch with the whole of yourself (body, mind and soul).

Use your time creatively! Make your to-do list work for you, not deplete you.
