Questions for an Effective Quarterly Goals Review and Planning Session

Are you going in the right direction with the correct tools?

Whether our first quarter was great or disappointing, we have to strategise now for the next three months and the rest of the year. This is not a business numbers review; it’s about you and what you want.

For background, I am assuming you have set yearly goals maybe — hopefully! — derived from long term goals. If you haven’t, do it now; visualize what you want your life to be like in a few years time; from that vision, set goals that need to happen by the end of this year as building blocks for your future. The quarterly goals are stepping stones towards your yearly goals. Those in turn will help you set monthly, weekly and daily priorities and tasks.

The review session

A review is not a time to beat yourself up for what hasn’t been done, rather it is a time to be inspired by the future you are building for yourself. No gloom allowed, only positive thoughts. Above all, approach this with constructive curiosity. Here are some questions that will help you review the past quarter. Work through them in writing as this will allow more reflection therefore clarity.

  • What monthly and quarterly goals have I achieved? Have I celebrated them or do I need to allow…
