5 Easy Ways to Meditate
If you struggle to meditate and think that it means emptying your mind of all thoughts, read this and discover 5 easy and alternative ways to meditate.
I grew up in the land of Cartesian thought where Descartes famously declared “I think, therefore I am”. Logical enough and true in many respects. However, my perspective is very different nowadays. I used to live in my head and considered that omnipresent voice to be my true self. I was so wrong because that constant, involuntary, repetitive stream of thoughts is mostly negative and disempowering. It isn’t the real me and it doesn’t leave much space for new and creative thoughts.
So today, I tend to think “The less I think, the more I am”. As I have progressively decreased my inner chatter through mindfulness, I have become more in tune with the energies in my body, with my intuition and my creative flow. I have a much deeper sense of my existence.
Most beginners, however, tend to find meditation quite difficult and I believe that one of the main reasons is that they haven’t got a clear idea of what to expect and sometimes have wrong assumptions about what should happen. Expecting our minds to quieten down instantly and completely or to lead us to some kind of revelation is a sure way to experience disappointment.
